Who are you?
We are an independent group with a common interest in walking for pleasure in the Sussex countryside. Our membership is drawn from across Sussex and beyond, joining us from near and far to enjoy our walks.
What do you do?
On Sundays, throughout the year, we normally have an all-day circular walk. You will find most are between 9 and 11 miles long, although we have been known to vary them both above and below this range! Occasionally we have a figure of eight walk which is a morning and afternoon walk with coincident starting points, so you can walk either in the morning, or in the afternoon, or all day.
On Saturdays, for most weekends in the summer and some weekends during the winter, we normally have a half day walk, typically of 5 to 6 miles. But you will also find the occasional all day walk on a Saturday as well.
Turn to our walks page and you will find details of our current walks, with distances and starting points.
Finally, for members and their friends only, we hold a limited number of social events throughout the year; but you will have to join the Club to find out more!
Who leads the walks?
The walks are organised and led by the members themselves, but there is no pressure on any individual to lead a walk.
Where do you walk?
We walk in a variety of locations in Sussex, allowing members to choose their preferred terrain. We also have occasional walks and holidays outside Sussex.
May I come along on my own?
Of course you can! In fact, most of our members join as individuals and soon feel part of the group.
What should I wear?
Anything that is comfortable and will keep you warm in the winter and protect you from the sun in the summer. Most important is to wear comfortable shoes or boots which you don't mind getting muddy occasionally!
What should I bring with me?
On our all-day walks a small rucksack containing something to eat and drink at lunchtime and any extra layers of clothing would be ideal.
May I join a walk without first becoming a member?
Absolutely! You are welcome to join us for a few walks as a guest before becoming a member. Whilst we are providing Covid secure walks, we do ask you to request a place on a walk first. Please go our walks page and use the button on the walk you wish to attend to make your request.
May I bring a dog with me?
Sorry but no, unfortunately we do not allow dogs (other than guide dogs) on our walks.
How do I get to your walks?
Generally, our members make their own arrangements for travelling to and from the start/finish points but members who live near one another will often share a car.
How do I find out more information about the Club?
You can see the range of walks we offer and our subscription rates.
If you need any further information contact us from this website, or telephone 07842 792962. Please do not send texts as we are unable to monitor this number for text messages.
